Nicaragua Mission Project

Connecting the Heart of Christ to the Hands of Christ.
Since 2009, Solid Rock Chapel has partnered with a church in Leon, Nicaragua. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the world. About 80% of the population lives on less than $2.00 per day. Their nation has been ravaged by corrupt governments, tragic earthquakes and hurricanes that have left many people locked in poverty. We were introduced to Pastor Denis Sanchez and his family in January of 2009. Pastor Denis has a passion and a vision for the community he serves. We felt like Pastor Denis and his church were the right kind of people to partner with. Pastor Denis’ church was already hosting a Compassion International Project but they did not have adequate buildings for the program. We started raising funds and sending teams of workers down to help with the building project. We started with 12 classrooms then went on to build a church building as well. Today there are 500 children that participate in the Compassion Program at Project 155. God is so Good!
Several years ago Pastor Denis introduced us to Pastor Wenner Valle and his family. The Valle family was involved in an outreach effort in a neighboring community also in Leon. This community was also in dire need of a school and church building. Through lots of prayers, planning and hard work, this outreach has now grown into it’s own Compassion project and is serving the children and families of the community. This project is known as 6th Church or Compassion Project 291.
